Oh geez lol. Its a 90g, but I do have a 75 gallon and a 60g. I can put the victs in one of those. When i took those two pictures, they both double teamed my Oscar and bit him twice, hungout for a split second (fortunate enough to have enough time to get the pics lol) then they flew back in the log. I didnt know they can spawn at this size. The mysteries in the fish world continue to amaze me everyday LOL
so how do you recommend I do this? Put the convicts in the 75 or everything out of the 90? I am getting a 125g to put the convicts in with the o’s for that extra two feet of space but Now I think I should put the convicts in my 75 alone and out the oscars in the 125 lol. Literally they both just bit the same oscar two more times, 3 total times now. The O keeps sitting above their log

Didnt see this reply til now after I wrote that. Okay that works perfect, I didnt know convicts laid eggs in logs, always thought It was more flat rocks. Really cool. Although there is a hole in the bottom of the log where you can see gravel through it so thats flat. Makes sense

And how long do the eggs take to hatch if the male fertilizes them?
It takes three days to hatch. Another three days or so in wiggler stage where they are all in a pile learning how to swim basically. Then they get to the free swimming stage. The parents then herd them around the tank to graze. You may or may not lose this batch if you move them. The parents may consume the eggs to recycle the energy. Don't worry within weeks they will have another.
The old adage holds true, Convicts are the easiest of all to spawn.
Add a male
Add a female
Add water
And in no time you will have a spawn.

Wow thats quick! So, my only worry is if I move them, the eggs may be in the substrate in the hole cutout at the bottom of the log or it may be in the log. What is the best way to safely do this?

Just move it as quick as you can. The eggs will be stuck to the log most likely. As seen here. These are Amphilophus but they spawn same as cons. Sticky eggs laid upon something20190208_150443.jpg
Then comes the wiggler stage. See the mound of black behind mum, those are freshly hatched fry.20190211_160530.jpg
Then they goto swimming stage and the parent herd them around to graze.20190215_121019.jpg

Convicts are substrate spawning. There eggs are sticky. I would half fill the 60gal with water from the tank the pair is in. You could put a plastic container into the tank and move the log into the container so you don’t have to pull it out of the water. After placing in the 60gal, then fill er up and dechlorinate.
