At which point did they stop cannibalizing each other? Or did they ever stop? Those youngsters all look about the same size; are they the largest of the bunch who ate all their smaller siblings?
In those family photos, the adults look large enough to try eating the young; do H.odoe typically act like some predators that eat very large prey and sometimes try to eat prey that is too large? Or are they smart enough not to choke themselves to death with oversize prey?
