1. ARE WATER CHANGES NEEDED EVEN WITH GREAT TEST RESULTS?
I'm running a Fluval FX6 on a 125 gallon tank with a total of 8 small cichlids in it (see signature). I have had the tank setup with fish for about 2 months and my water tests are all coming back pretty good. My most recent water test...
I live near Orlando and I am planning a 240 gallon African cichlid tank. It is a big undertaking as I have never owned anything larger than a 55 gallon. I talked to a LFS called Daytona Aqurium that specializes in African cichlids and the manager recommended a sump but also that it turn the tank...
I'm fixing up a tank that sprung a leak a few months ago and I was thinking about adding a sump at the same time. how big of a sump would probably be necessary? the tank is in an L shape and is 18" wide 18" tall, one arm is 4' the other is 6', so essentially its two 70g tanks jammed together in...
I have a new 75 gallon tank. It's already cycled and is running an aquaclear 110. Is that filtration enough for just one full grown Oscar? And maybe (that's a big maybe) just one other cichlid that can go with an Oscar. I've seen in a lot of posts people suggest keeping a lot more filtration but...
I am going to be setting up a 125 gallon fish tank with 8-12 Cichlids, and I may do 2-4 live feeding per month. I know that I will have to do water changes, but I'm looking for filtration suggestions that I require the least amount of water changes and aquarium maintenance. FYI...whatever system...

I have a cichlid tank with a sunsun 302 canister and a top filter. Though I have not tested it, but the water looks reasonably fine and fish are doing good. However, the substrate (brick red sand) is a bit dirty and I was wondering if the filters would pick it up over time and if I can leave it...
Most say that protein skimmers do almost nothing for fresh water but through my own experience I have found that they do a fantastic job at removing both soluble and non soluble fish wastes. Anyone else using skimmers on fresh?
Hey Guys,
I am on my way to my local Goodwill to pick up a 29 Gallon tank that caught my eye, for a sump. This will be my first sump build. I have a design drawn out on where i want my baffles. I'd like to get some glass cut tomorrow and was wondering if anyone could tell me how much...
