Did you think about installing a floor drain, or a drain at the base of one of the walls, in case you need to drain the pond completely?

Looks good! Can't wait to see how you plumb this baby up, and then see water and rays in it.

Personally I think you should either do sand, or tile on the bottom. I think the blue is ok on the walls, but I wouldn't want to look at rays on a blue bottom....

Didn't consider a floor drain, probably would have been a good idea. I am leaning toward a natural tan colored sand rather than leaving it bare bottom.
 
A floor drain could fail and lose all the water and the rays:eek:...you can always drop a pipe in to the bottom and just siphon it out or pump it.

I have seen 2 rays threads in the last 12 months where the bottom drain has failed and lost the rays.

Good point, we have plenty of pumps to drain it and a shop vac to suck the rest of the water out if we ever need to.
