Why do you want the black silicone? Is there really a difference, visually? I would think black would obstruct the view more, no?

no, it looks way better over time.

it does not stain with meds and does not show algae that grows on it.

it looks sharp


the thing is, I had old tanks in my old fishroom and the clear silcone was algae covered and ratty looking.

the black silicone tanks still looked brand new.

once you get algae on the clear silicone, you really can't get it off easily without risking damaging your silicone.

with black silicone, you can just let it grow.

eg. this 65 tank is 4 years old and it still looks brand new to me:

thats why I specifically wanted black silicone in the new 150.

Marineland has a bunch of tanks availabe with black seals now, all their new deep dimension tanks are etc.

its becoming very popular. one day, clear might be uncommon..

I'd have to agree with your view on black silicone 12 Volt Man. I wish my 75 All-Glass has black silicone like my 75 Marineland. Can't wait to see your 150.

150 gallon tank is arriving at the LFS tomorrow. was supposed to come yesterday but they forgot to put it on the truck lol

the packing slip is here though.

I will post pics soon, hopefully I can get this thing delivered by the end of the week..

saw the tank today. its at the LFS. they did a nice job. looks to be very well constructed - thick silicone, thick glass, two braces..

its huge.

it was sitting right next to a Marineland/Perfecto 150 long and I could not believe the difference in build quality - the marineland tank had very thin seals, thinner glass and only 1 center brace across the tank..when I first started planning all this I was considering a marineland tank - because it was cheapest. glad I didn't...

tank is all paid for, delivery will be hopefully in the next few days..

Black is sooooooo much better than clear.

on my last tank (55 gal) i had clear and it turned blue when i used ick treatment once.

now with my new tank (75 gal) it came with black and i am so glad it did. looks 100 times better and i like the way it defines the edges of the tank.

talked to the LFS. tank is coming tomorrow night between 5 and 630.

they say it feels heavier than 300 pounds LOL
