Thanks!

Well, the project must go on.

Finding pool filter sand in the beautiful pacific nw turned out to be much more of a challenge than I thought. The local home depots, ACEs, Lowe's, etc do NOT carry pool filter sand here! I guess because it rains so much hardly anyone has a pool.
I went to the local pool supply specialty store and they only carry a brand called Target... And it looked real ugly and was pretty rough.
After a lot of calling around, I was able to order some through my local ACE's warehouse, should get there on Friday and I don't have to pay a dime for shipping or pay for it until I pick it up.
So, for anyone in the pacific NW, ACE has pool filter sand, you just have to order it!
Screw pool filter sand your lucky enough to live in Portland! Go to "Cayes" on SE Division and you will get the best sand ever for your tank. It's a little spendy but completely worth it. Drive 10 minutes north, over to my place if you want to see it in tanks. I have it in my 220g and 300g and LOVE this sand. Far better than PFS. I've used both. LMK if you need a pic of the bag and I'll post one up for you. If your dead set on PFS, head over to Milwaukie. There is a store in the same parking lot as Cal Spas (the one you can see from I-205) that sells it. Hope that helps.

GL on your build. ;)

Looks good!

Nice to have another Oregonian on MFK, there aren't many. Where do you get your fish?
The Wet Spot usually. Any other good stores in the Portland area?

Sure, I'd like to see a pic! How much would it be for enough sand for a 125 gallon?

Here ya go  I used 100 lbs in my 125g but I like deep sand beds. That gave me about 3" of depth. You could probably get away with 50 lbs and be just fine depending on your taste. It's $0.50 / lbs but worth it. Heavy, smooth and you can gravel vac easily. Looks allot better than PFS too. I'll drum up a pic from in the tank here in a minute hang on.

I hope you have not filled it up yet. I have noticed that the tank is lying directly on the stand which does not look to have a full flat top surface. It's commonly recommended to put a 1/2" or 1" sheet of insulation foam between the tank and the stand, especially on larger tanks such as yours. as the weight of the water adds, the stand may bend and may put uneven stress on the tank, causing it to crack. A simple elegant precaution to a nightmare.

Yeah I was looking at that. It is even on all four corners, and the way it is is exactly how the people I bought it from used it (I saw it when it was running and holding water).
