hmm sounds good, but i have a marineland c-530 it does 530 gph, do you think its good ?

I have 2 turtles and 9 fish ; 6 tiger barbs 1 barb clown loach with 2 plecos

Should I get an fx5 o.o overkill? i think not turtles are dirty mine are RES.

and also I can put in a under water filter that does 50 gallons of water tanks.. and maybe a H.o.b that does 60 gallons

but hten again I can always buy a rubbermaid and make a ghetto sump

aint got much room since my big c-530 takes up space, I have a commercial stand not like u guys having so much room I have shelves
Am I correct in reading you only have one clown loach?
You should have at least 3, and ideally at least 5-6. They have complex social behavior and are healthiest in groups. You will also see them be more active.
Be sure to have plenty of cover, and realize they get BIG.
A great smaller loach that will max out at 6" would be a yoyo or a polka dot loach, however, they should also be kept in groups.

As for your filtration questions, I know turtles are very messy. An fx5 is great, but if you already have a large canister (I have no experience with that brand), and it isn't enough (how are you water parameters? how often do you do a water change?) then a sump might be the answer. JK47 runs a sump and an fx5 on his big tank, as do some other MFKs.

I swear I had 3 clown loaches before.. they just disappeared.

Also I do water changes once every week or sometimes every two weeks, a 30%

a rubbermaid sump ? I dont think I have enough room, theres one thing I could do is link it through a window to the outside of my patio and place the bucket there which pumps the water back in...

else I dont have room..

UPDATE:

OK, today two things happened, my FX5 arrived in the mail, and I got sand for the tank.

Here it is, the FX5 is in the bottom right corner. Once again, taken with an iphone, so sorry for the quality. I didn't realize the FX5 doesnt come with any media :irked: so I need to pick that up tomorrow before I hook it up.

The sand I decided on is a blasting sand that JK47 recommended (thanks dude!). The picture of the bag is on page 2 of this thread. I am stoked on it, gave it a quick rinse in a rubbermaid bin and dumped it in.

Here are some pics of the sand:

Here it is during filling, it is nice and heavy with little dust...

Close up sand:
I told you that you would love that sand bro. Well worth a few bucks, I'm glad you didn't cheap out and go for PFS. Don't sweat the FX5, put the intake on one end and the return towards the other and you'll be fine. With media they run around 600 GPH. Powerheads or even an AC110 are nice additions as well but your FX5 will keep up unless you overload your tank with bioload. I like having more than one filter in case of failures. I hide sponge filters though in case the power goes out. That way you have something inside the tank that has a large BB colony and doesn't have to have power. Not efficient but better than a power filter when the lights go out.

The 125g you saw at my place yesterday has two Hydor V sponges hidden and I bet you didn't even notice them at first glance? Hit me up on all that DW if you still want it. Keep the progress coming J! Looks good.

Thanks everyone.

Filled up the tank 90% today to make sure it holds water. So far so good.

Tomorrow I need to buy filter media and heaters.

so you got an fx5 on ebay for 200 bucks with shipping? media included?
No the fx5 doesn't come with any media besides some mech sponge filters on the sides. Three empty baskets to fill.
