Thanks guys. That was last weekend's progress. I'm gonna try to get out there and do some more today and tomorrow. If I had a day just to dedicate to my tank I'd get all of the wood working complete, but things just don't seem to work out right ever! So yeah, I've noticed that there are some slight gaps of about 1/4" here and there and some as big as almost 1/2". I was thinking that I should fill these gaps before I glass the corners. Any suggestions? I was hoping to find some kind of wood putty in a caulking gun tube, but can't seem to find them. I thought I had seen some before. Any clues? I'll do a google on it see what I can find. I'd rather have the caulking stuff because I went through applying wood putty to corners on the 210 I'm building to eliminate gaps and that was a pain by hand. Caulking gun would save a lot of hassel!:nilly:

whats the one in the 1st and 2nd picture called? looks sweet
Brachyplatystoma filamentosum(or capapretum) The debate is still out although I'm leaning towards capapretum. Based on some literature, and some help from some asian, and european friends I'm sure it's not actually a fila. Filas grow to 8'-10' in the wild and can weigh more than 400 lbs. Capapretum gets about half that size. Also from the capture location I'm sure it's capa and not fila, but the guy who sold it to me swears that it's a fila and tried to get me kicked from another site because I was debating it with him using scientific evidence. Oh well. Very much predatory, and very difficult to ween. If you are talking about the other page the second pic is of a marble catfish.

He's a beautiful catfish mate!

I think a motoro ray would be just damn sweet in there. Maybe some PBass.
I think so also, but if anything besides catfish go in it will be few and far between. I was thinking about an azul, and a motoro would be great, but I can't really budget it after this build for a long time so it would have to be a donation or someone giving it to me because they no longer want it, and know I could house it for life. I've went through my head so many differnt fish that I could keep in here. I think snook are amazing.

3m 4200 fast cure should also work for this application. 4200 is a bit cheaper and sets faster than the 5200. least expensive might be roofing caulk. the big question would be: will the resin bond to the caulk? west marine has some excellent info re use of different caulk formulations for different applications.

I'll have to do some research. I just know that fiberglass resin has to stick to it. Also some food for thought. I was thinking of using one end of the aquarium as an internal filter. After adding the partition the filter part would be around 500 gals vol., and the tank portion would be closer to 3000 gals. These would be based on the new inside measurements. I'll have to do a sketchup of exactly what I'm thinking, but might help me save some space as with the tank pulled 3' from the wall and measuring 9' from front to back I'm reduced in space by 12', and I'm not sure I can park a car in my garage anymore with the tank that far out. Would also give me more room for my future tank projects. When it's all said and done the garage should have a 3-4k tank, 1200 gal tank, and a 500 gal tank.

I think the tank will look a lil smoother if pushed against the wall and had an internal filter. Could also just make it a filter on each end going about half the depth from front to back. Leaving about 18" of walking room behind the aquarium for maintenance. With the barrel filter system design I'd have to walk on top of the aquarium to get to the filters. So with the behind the filter barrel system the filter will have around 300ish gal capacity with a 3700-4000 gal aquarium, but if I do the internal sump idea it will be 500 gal capacity with around 3000-3200 gal capacity aquarium. All ideas are welcome. The barrels just seem like a pain, and if I do the internal ones I can custom make each chamber to my specifications.
