It's funny. My first DIY tank was my 200gal, and I thought it was a lot of work at the time (mind you I was pretty detail oriented when I did it.) Beside this monstrosity a 200gal plywood seems so trivial
Yeah I started my 200 a while back, and I would be finished with it right now, but the glass for it got broken, and then the back up glass got broken as well. So now it's just a fiberglass box that I am going to put epoxy in and try to find another piece of glass for. It was intended to house some of my smaller fish until this was finished and also replace my 75 gal in the house, but of course things don't always go as planned. I might try to finish it up as I still need the extra space until the big tank is finished. I almost want to push to get the big tank finished first though.

Nice to see that your still plugging away at it while trying to please everyones obsession with the Big Tank as well
You know that a few pics of the 200 wouldn't be a Bad thing ... right?
Didn't work on it any today. Just staining and that's it. I'll snap some pics tomorrow for you.

did you build the 200 using the same process? I want to build a monster but of course I aint building no 5k tank as my first so a 250 was my plan. if the 250 goes well I have a 150 I would disassemble and use the glass for the front of a 1500K tank the info gleaned off these forums is priceless
No. I used 1" MDF board that was given to me. It has two coats of fiberglass, and will be getting a coat of marine epoxy soon. The board is screwed end to end. There are some heavy duty screws every 3" of every seem of this thing. I think I used probably 400 screws in it. It doesn't move no matter how hard you try. It is fiberglassed inside and out.
Here are two pics of today's progress. Didn't quite get to 10', but it's damn close. It's about half way right now. There's a fish eye view also. I also put another piece of ply under the tank.(note to self, ply gets heavy when laying under a huge tank trying to screw upwards.
