Now THAT'S a catfish.

LOL just messin'!

That tank is going to be HUGE when finished. And to think people spend 5k for a 'monster' tank that's like 1/10th of the size.
I know what you're saying. I'm doing a 200 gal also and the total costs on that one so far is less than $75 cause I got the wood for free

yeah, I felt that I needed something like this for my growing kitten army! Thanks

Sweet !!!! ... the tank is coming alot great!!!

I expect to see huge progress when I come back in 2 weeks ;)
you will. It should have all the ply on it by then. I'll probably be just waiting around for more funds to get it sealed up. I really need some people to get some more skeletons from me so that I can seal, light, filter, and put windows in this thing lol. Probably going to sell off some of my collection on ebay, and maybe you guys will get first dibbs. That's my skeleton collection not my catfish collection lol.

yeah I know I talked about it for the past 3 years, and now I'm finally getting really into it. Hopefully my Piraiba will grow out huge in it eventually along with my jau and many other catfish.:naughty:

Just noticed this thread has been viewed over 15,000 times. lol, if everyone that viewed just dropped me a quarter I'd have more than enough to make this tank awesome lol. JK. Thanks to everyone for all the support and great comments. Several things have evolved during this build thanks to suggestions made on here. My fish should be swimming happy soon I hope. Trying to save up around $1500 to buy what I need to finish this project. Building it is cheap, but lighting, sealing, pumps, ect are the major costs here.

Once it's finished your wife might jump in there again just to get some attention from you :p I know my GF jokes about sticking a fish costume on to get my attention :p

Here's some pics of progress so far today. Going to take another load of scrap metal in today to get additional funds for the build. I now have a good spot to store the lumber for the rest of this!! Inside the tank itself. :headbang2 I cut most of what's needed to finish up the skeleton today and only put in three rows, but I cut a @$$ load of lumber so it's all good. Might do some more later, but for now my biceps are killing me.:irked: Let the tylenol do it's thing. My best advice is to get straight lumber so that you don't have to bend the crappy boards into place. You'll save a lot of money if you get the crap though. I'm not even $200 on wood yet. I have spend close to $60 on screws though. I need more of those also, and another bit. lol. This build takes a lot of screwing. So far 15 lbs of screws, and counting.

will the wood rot?
not if properly done, I had a wooden boat, sold it when it was 30 years old & no rot

I might have missed it, in fact I am sure that I did, but what are the sizes of the windows and how thick is the glass going to be?
