I can't believe you've assembled the whole thing with phillips head screws. I would have lost my mind by now. You Americans and your lack of Robertson screws! (square drive).

lol...the star tip is even better
What is a star tip? Torx? Torx is better than a Phillips, but I wouldn't go better than Robertson. Only thing better than Robertson is a hex bolt IMO.

I just noticed how easy it will be to change your light bulbs now that the tank is there  Just jump up there and bam... your done
I noticed that also when I jumped up there and hit my head on the ceiling!:nilly: Are you trying to say I need to change the one that's not working?:grinno:

Awesome! The full tank shot does it justice showing how MASSIVE it is.
You're telling me. When I can remember how painfully hard some of the work on this thing has been. I still got a ways to go. My wife is begining to understand how important it is for me to finish this after she saw my reaction when my beloved "Lumpy" TSN died recently. Now she's like why don't you spend some money on your tank!:headbang2

that thing still amazes me.... im gonna go to petco and be like "can you order me a 4000 gallon tank please?" :D see what they say
I've been to my petco and they all know I'm building this thing. They can't order anything close to this. They told me 180 is as big as they go, but another lfs around here told me they can order me a 2000 gal. Price tag was $8000 delivered to my home without stand or filter. I don't know who they are ordering from though. I've gotten a qoute online for $40,000.00 to build a tank to the same specifications that I am making mine except with three panes of glass that cover the entire front except some metal brace inbetween.

you could use a star tip and do a couple thousand easy
Now you tell me! I think they weren't in the budget!

wow. these kind of threads inspire me. im thinking of making a 70 gallon plywood tank if possible, just to start small. im only 14 so it'll take a little bit of teenager patience. but my dream job is being a marine biologist so that kind of helps my motivation. hope that made sense XD lol
Reach for your dreams. I was going to school for something similar, but it was too hard to keep up with my job and school, and my fish.

ya then be like :cry::cry: when they say they cant and be all like :irked: to the manager utill hes like :WHOA: and :nilly: and thinks im :screwy:
LOL. That's exactly how they act everytime I go in there. They hate it when I tell customers true adult sizes of fish they are buying, and what good housing accomodations would really be, and why not to start out an oscar in a 10 gal tank that's never been cycled. lol, some people can't understand why they can't buy the tank and fish the same day and have it work out.:(

I've heard this from several people, and I have the bits, but screws are hard to come by, and like 3x the price of phillips heads I'm using. Could just be a location thing since I'm middle of nowhere, Montana, and no one carries anything worth a darn around here!

True! You can post pics here, or in a new thread and post a link. Doesn't bother me.
