So the science teacher in the school I work in was going to throwout six 2 and a half gallon Aqueon tanks all brand new with the stickers still on them. Needless to say I took every single one of them and put then in my truck. I've never had a tank this small so I'm looking for stocking and creative biotope ideas. Let me know any ideas you guys may have.

Maybe a pair of darters but they might be too big.....you could do a few neons or guppies.

I got a seventy-five gallon the same way, congrats! If I was to stock some of those tanks I would start with Celestial Pearl Danios or another small danio, dwarf corys and micro crabs to start. Filling a tiny tank may be something that takes some thinking for a monster fish keeper, but I would be happy to accept the challenge.

To small for most fish, you could however do aquatic insects like orange-and-black "Halloween" water beetles, mayfly and damselfly larvae.
Or maybe a cricket frog.

Or you could go with land critters like
"Spanish orange" or "high yellow" isopods

How about a leaf fish, they hardly move and may not be affected by the lack of space?

I was looking at pencil fish and some plants awhile ago for one of those tanks. There's a few pencil fish that stay smaller than 1". Shrimp could work too.

Shrimp are a possibility, a friend of mine kept lone guppies in a 21/2 gal , and many of the endlers are very pretty

Stag beetles.
If you live near the coast, you can set up some native marine inverts, or try from a lake. Jt get mud, water and plants, no filter. Cover and wait to see what appears (50/50 chance you'll just gwt a mess.)
