Very simple actually...water drips in the top, trickles down through the scrubbies and the pump returns it to the tank...Lid is so the noise from trickling water is less as well as keeping out dust and debris...greatfulxdead;2382484; said:Explain to me how it works, what purpose does the lid serve?
To build one of these things for a pond, just put the pump in the water, pump water to the barrel and let it trickle through the scrubbies and out the side back into the pond....
here is my pond. Does it have to be above the level of the pond?

if the whole thing is seeled so well doesn't that kind of defeat part of the purpose of a wetdry? the oxygen in the contained air probably gets used up really fast, i bet if you cut some holes and added a small fan or just added a large airpump and airstone at the bottome it would greatly increase the affectiveness.

i just mean that there's no potential for air movement within the BRUTE or for airexchange. and it seems to me that since the purpose of a wetdry is to add unlimited oxygen via air over the media then by adding an air exchange to the setup would change the limiting factor from amount of oxygen to surface area. and since surface area actually costs money than you would want get as much use out of it as possible.
