206G Plywood Tank...Done - Part1

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You could cover the outside with 1/4 oak plywood. I use it on a lot of the tank stands that I build and sell. Looks good with a coat of American Accents Latex paint on it.

Any way you could post a chemicals list so someone like me could price out exactly what I would need?

Thanx. Oak ply was one of the coverings I was considering.

As for chemicals, it wasnt much.
Epoxy: Max Acr (link in post #1). We used both the regular and thixotropic, which is the thick version. They're busy over there and doing the Ebay thing still, but they are working on getting a web site.
Acetone for cleaning, thinning, etc.
Silicone and primer for the glass. See the sticky here, post #73:http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118131

How did you get the tank sponsership?

Honestly I'd have to say sheer luck. After we got to talking over a period of a couple of days, the owner of the place was really the one who suggested it. He had done something similar with a guy who owned a small boat.
No way was I going to pass up something like this.

It works out well for him too because projects like these give him benchmarks for his products. He can use the examples in his business. For instance, right now I'm trying out the epoxy on some store bought ornaments in my main tank. So far looks great.

Thanx. The project's been down a few weeks (lots of family things happening) but I'm getting back into the groove this weekend. Hope to post something new next few weeks.

Looking foward to the new post, hope this weeks progress goes well. Im liking where your going with the stand but want to see more....are the sides going to be shelves? why the indent?
