Anything new? How are the water parameters with the safe start?
I checked this morning...and...everything is still 0! Tuesday would be a week with fish. The water is cloudy...it seemed to be a white cloudy...but then looking through the tank through the side it looked like maybe it was a green cloud. I am starting to get green algae on the wood...so I thought it was time to hook up the UV on the tank. SO now I have 36w UV on it...we will see what the water does the next few days. I wound up using some aquarasol in the tank for the scratching. It is copper sulfate....the flicking on the rocks was getting worse and some of the eyes on the acei looked like they were hazing up from being hit maybe. They are looking good now....we shall see over a few days. All in all lookin good!

Nice bro sounds like you got a hold of things. Just a heads up I was advised not to run UV during medications. Not positive if it will effect it but I was told by Jungle labs that it would. What kind of UV is this a twist 12X 36? I am getting one to run on my big tank when I get it. Currently have a 18 corallife twist I love it I had a few bad ones and I got a 24 watt but its a real junker compared to the twist.

Yeah I didn't want to run the UV yet...it said not to with the safestart for 48hrs. Since its past that I decided to run it since I think my water turning green and if it is I want to knock it out. I expected it too with the lights...still not 100% if it is or not...could be from being a new tank...but there is no ammonia.

I have a aquamedic helix...its a twist type...but I wouldn't buy this one again...has some leaky issues...I think they have stopped for now.

Yeah I feel ya. I had two leaky turbo twist UV's in a row thats why I bought the clunker but then ended up going back and getting some 18 watters for my bigger tanks.

After some reading and thinking I added my polyfilters to the water to take out the copper sulfate. I dont have enough hose to hook my carbon filter up so I will tomorrow. I did some more reading on the stuff and I dont want to use it. I read it kills the good bacteria...and builds up in the substrate. So before I do any more damage im taking it out. I did a dose yesterday and tonight. I read also that a UV and the chelated copper (good thing mine is not) is a bad mix and can kill the tank.

See I went to the LFS in a rush while doing other running and just grabbed the stuff. I didnt read what was in it...it said it cured what I thought was going on and wouldnt stain the silicon. It wasnt till I got home and read the whole bottle that I noticed it was CS. There has to be something else...

From ground to top of the wood is 24"

I have noticed something with the lights...I kinda thought it would be this way but it is confirmed. The 10k bulb on the right of the tank grows algae faster than the 15k on the left. I think that is going to push me in the 15k direction. That side doesn't really have any growing on the black overflow covers...the 10k side does. The color of the fish are about the same under each light...but you can tell the 10k is a little whiter by looking at the black background and sand. Still looks good on either side....

UV is definitely clearing the water...so it must have been turning green. So if you plan to have monster lighting...better have a UV or go home lol.

Checked the water...the ammonia is elevated slightly...maybe .25...I could only really tell by testing tap water to hold next to it. I hope my copper blunder didn't mess anything up. Everything else is 0. If you ask me that safe start might have done something. I would think after a week of 16 decent size fish getting fed nicely 2 times a day the ammonia would be spiked.

I hooked my mini reactors up...but my maxijet 400 isn't up for the task so its trickling through.
