OK here is as best as I can get of these larva looking things that just showed up. They are about 1/4" long and wiggle in the water then sit on the side or the bottom glass where it looks like they are grazing feeding. Lots on the bottom. I have 2 ideas...some bug flew in from outside and was attracted because of the lights OR something I didn't scrub off of the rocks that I got from outside by a ditch. I scrubbed the heck out of them with a bristle packs plastic hand brush. They had mud on them....I thought I got them good but maybe not.

What would yall do?

I think i would stick with your original plan and do a 100% water change, as well as maybe do a rub down on the rocks again too. I have some large rocks from a stream nearby my apartment and i washed the heck out of them and i still saw stuff on them when i put them in the aquarium...took a couple washes till i was satisfied. I just would not risk having weird looking larva in your new beautiful tank lol.

BTW it looks awesome keep up the great work i can't wait to see it finished!!

wow how odd. This is why I soak and rinse in tap water changing the water in the bucket 4 times a day rinsing as i change the soak water. Never had any discolorations or anything like that.No gravel dust no color leach. It works well im lucky I have two bathtubs in my house so I can spare one for rock and decor cleaning (Atleast until my GF starts whining about it)

For your situation I would completely drain the tank and remove any one that is visible and leave it dry for 48 hours. I would not medicate because god only knows what those are...

Reason I want to use meds is there is no telling where they are to remove the. Or if they are larva's of something that is not aquatic or this is the final stage of what ever they are. If I use meds it would kill them all...even the ones embedded into the scrubbies and what not. Even tho I dont know what they are...a little shot of some sort of parasite stuff might work....or some un-chelated copper. Who knows...when I do a fish less cycle the ammonia will be ski high...maybe that would knock out any remaining ones in the filter.

On a sand note...I was told by the place I ordered it from that I should have it no later than today. I really hope it looks like that Estes Medium broadcast sand. In the description of the estes ultra reef it says glossy black...I want it to be a flat black like the 3M and the other estes stuff. We will see....

I have to put my heater in and try that out.

Been pondering where im going to put the heater...its a titanium type not glass...do yall think it would melt the plastic of the filter if it was touching it?

Indeed this is one of the best builds I have seen in ages. Well done man. Let me know your final conclusion on how you deal with those bugs. That is one strange ordeal for an empty tank :) But hey ... at least it is empty right :)
