The smaller the micron the smaller the particles it filters out, but it also will clog up a lot faster. I even have to clean out my 100 microns twice a week if I'm being really neurotic or if I feed more than usual. I can't imagine how often J jaws7777 is having to change out a 50 micron

I'm using the 100 micron extended life ones from here:

Not the ones from the section for extended life, but under
Seamless Felt Filter Bags cheap filters so it's not so painful if you want to experiment

No seams for crud to get caught on, and instead of a metal ring there's a plastic one which for me at least has held up better to machine washes. I just recently swapped to the extended, hoping that the extra thickness would help with bypass a bit- so far it seems to be doing a nice job and they've survived numerous bleachings

Which one do you use? Cause the 7" diameter with 32" heigth might be to long for my sump, i think ill have to go for 5" diameter with 21" height one 100 micron seamless felt filter bag.

I do 7" diameter with 16 1/2 height. My sump has cutouts so I'm kind of stuck at the 7" diameter

+1 ragin taught me everything i know about sumps. My build was a combo of his and another member....90%his. Infact when i get around to it im going to try and get him an mfk award for his stuff

Zilch i change them about every 4 to 5 days but am going bump it up and try for every other day.

Polyaddict86 i think 100 micron will be a happy medium
