Theres no way i could fit all that in a 60 gallon. Its already getting cramped in there and i still havent started on the 300!

They are ok i ended up only using the bottom half and sittong the laubdry bag in them, they dont do much for crud i was just messing around trying to limit bypass, this way all the water HAS to go through the bio before its returned to the tank.That reminds me! Frank, how are those pond boxes working out for catching all the sump crud? I ordered a couple along with my new pumps and yesterday cleaned out my sump, rebagged all the media, it was gross... I'm going to guess most of my nitrates were coming from there

Hm fair enough, is it just settling around the filter instead of going in or just getting recycled back through the tank?
Im using 50 micron socks so im not getting a ton of debris. I used to run an ac110 with foam off another sump and it kept it spotless
Ahhh okay, I'm running 100 micron, it's like a fine brown dust which I think is equal parts bio and sediment from matrix. Maybe I'll dial down the sock size again and see if that helps. I've also got some ac110s laying around so that's also a thought. Thanks man!
Not necessarily just really want to see the mechanics of it so i have an idea of what i want to do for mine because i was going to do about a 100 gallon sump on my tank as well.

Do lower mess socks are better? Im using 200 micron right now and planinng to buy more, what does a lower micron do compared to 200 micron?
