As many of you who have followed my other tank build thread know, this project has met with many roadblocks along the way. The most recent was the discovery that the entire front frame of the tank needs to be rebuilt. The other was that the 2" acrylic that was ordered 48"x96" arrived 50"x99-1/8" instead.

It was an oversight of the company as they assumed the two pieces in the warehouse were 48"x96" and shipped without measuring. The pieces were evidently from a canceled order and had been sitting there due to the non-standard size.

If you choose to see the evolution of this project, see my Fish Room Redux thread.

*******

Front wall of tank shares wall with dining room

Tank will be approximately 12'x8'x5' with 50"x99-1/8"x2" cell cast acrylic as viewing window.

Internal coating will be Ame's Research Blue Max

2x6 frame throughout

3" deck screws and 1/4" bolts

Either 3/4" plywood or 1/2" plywood and hardi-board sheathing

Here's a few pics to refresh the memory of where I am now. I tore out the 2x10 header and the upright to the left. Still have to remove the header plate and cut the broken 2x4 then I can start fitting in the new framing. I'm going to be smart about it this time and fit everything in place and attach with enough screws to temporarily hold it then come back and glue and screw once I'm satisfied with the fit.
