520 gallon plywood tank

Did you use a table saw for all your cuts? Jig saw for the viewing panel? I’m trying to decide if I want to use a skill saw and a guide for straight cuts or fork over the money for a table saw. Just trying to figure everything out before i start buying stuff. I’m doing a 360 gallon.

How much did you spend on screws? I saw you were using the ones that don’t require pre drilling.

I used a guide and skill saw. I did the same for the windows and very carefully used a small sawsall in the corners of openings. I just started the openings with a drop cut with the saw. Make sure you have a good grip so it doesn't grab and shoot backwards if you do that!!

Test your guide on cheap extra material. Most saw the guard is 1.5" away from blade but mine was a little less.

I can't remember the exact price but I want to say $10 per pack. I went through about 3 boxes. I also used 1.5" screws for the initial layer. And 1.25" for the rest since there was risk of going through both layers. All the same brand.

Yeah. 3/4 birch with the same as braces. So all corners are 1.5" overlapping. It's been full for a few days and no leaks. So I'm slowly getting more confident haha

Well, not a lot of work on the tank. Been busy with work and finishing the room. This weekend I'm finishing the ceiling, tape/float/texture/trim walls. Then floor, then tank haha. I did pick up a fx6 that I'm running on a 75 to start bio searing that I'll transfer to this tank. Along with two 1000gph diy canisters I'm making.

My bed will be built in and as tall as the stand with a little shelf spacing off from the tank. I'll post pics when that happens

Gotta agree with NathanKS. Now that's it's framed in it looks totally different. Not that it didn't look good before or anything but just looking really nice now.

In wall tanks just scream display instead of aquarium, if that makes any sense at All! Since I've gone in wall I don5 think I could ever have a typical set up ever again. So far this looks great!

Thanks y'all. I finished the ceiling and wall texture today. Painting tomorrow. I can't wait to finish all the "me" stuff, so I can get back to the fish stuff.
