How are you planning on doing the wc,eg are you treating the water before you put it in or straight from the tap?

Good luck with the pictures, computer's are so annoying at times aren't they;)

Sounds like a plan, i've had similar thoughts before but mine were along the lines have one pipe at the very bottom of the tank connected to a valve with a padlock on to avoid mistakes and use this one if it ever needs completely draining. And another pipe at about the 30% water change level (or what ever your water change percentage of choice is) again with a locked valve, but when it comes to water change time you can open it and not have to keep an eye on it when it drains as you know it'll stop at the level you want.
I may just pinch that idea, makes sense to have a valve at a routine water change level. cheers mate. :D

Hi Steve.

Definitely treating it before it goes in. If i stand with my back to the summer house door i can look right through our back door, through the utility room and into the garage, so i have a straight 'run' into the garage where i'm going to fairly soon install an RO unit.

I put in hot and cold outside taps about four metres from the summer house, so the plan is to run the RO unit into appropriate containers ( 5 gallon drums or something, yet to purchase) then come from the garage to the back door where i can top the container up with hot water ( giving a 50/50 mix of RO/TAP)

I will fill the drums up the day/night before i plan to do the water changes, leave them standing in the summer house with a heater in each and prob an air stone, so it can circulate and come up to the same temp. as the tank before doing the water change. Reckon i will be doing my water change sunday mornings so i can get the water ready the night before.

Should i be putting stress coat or anything into the 50/50 RO/TAP water mix?

Mate, you're not dumb, computers are dumb. Blame trying to work an apple, they're supposed to be better and easier than windows but obviously aren't in this case. Tried using the Apple at my folks house a couple of times, sod that!

uploaded a couple more pics top my album, of the valve installed to drain the entire tank, but now after Satan's good suggestion im going to install one higher up at my regular water change level, tomorrow.
Here ya go.

Doesn't look like it'd be too difficult to drill a hole through the end of the valve handle and fit a bracket to the side of the tank to padlock it to for safety if you don't fancy taking the handle off.

cheers mate, appreciate the uploading. Well, i have good news, epoxy got delivered today! :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: :grinno: :grinno:

i'm one happy chap now. going to fit another 22mm valve in a minute, at my water change level, once that's done i can mix up the epoxy putty stuff and do all the joints, corners, holes etc. got tomorrow off, not by choice but its looking much rosier now, should get the first coat of epoxy done :headbang2

Cool, looking good,as for wc thats how i do it now,ive got a 480l container in the utility room which i fill 75% with the ro then top up with hot tap water the night before and then switch 3 heaters on and a pond pump to move it all around about 7 in the morning and its up to temp at around 7pm when i do the wc.
Cant wait for some more pics.
