Congrats, java fern is a good plant and is really easy to grow and makes a great addition to any tank.

wow, so much happens when i don't check MFK for a few weeks!

Good work Mike, sucks about the leak though, hopefully that's sorted now. Soon be done. (Still possible availability on my big bass if you want, the guy that has it is having second thoughts and wouldn't mind it going if you're interested)
No kidding, Nice work Mike!

Tank's holding water fine. making some adjustments to the filter sections/levels and got plenty of equipment to buy, not much gonna happen for a week or so now until i get my hands on more expendable cash.

got the front facia for the tank tonight, this will cover the front area where the lights are currently visible, using oak PVC which will be removable. Will also have plastic covers made up soon for the filter and either side of the tank top, none of which will be visible from the front to keep the look clutter free.

list of equipment to buy next week or so......
Heaters
Pump
40 l.p.h. air pump.
filter media

got the front panel installed tonight, it's oak PVC facia, it covers up all the lighting and other messy areas on the top. Easy to remove if i need to gain extra access to the lights or whatever as the height is a slight problem........but this is monsterfishkeepers.com so who cares!

install the clear plastic tomorrow night which will cover both sides of the light housing and a separate piece over the filter area.

can silicone 'sweat'?

the front panel is sealed around on the dry side with clear silicone, where the oak meets the acrylic, acid curing sanitary grade, which i use at work.

i was looking around the front of the tank and thought i found a leak in the bottom right corner because it looked like a tiny area of moisture in the corner of the oak. it was wet to touch but greasy (best way i can describe it). pushed some toilet roll into the corner over an hour ago and it is not wet at all. strange.

went round the oak with a torch to see if there were any more areas and there are, even close to the water surface level (thinking maybe pressure at the bottom was an issue), areas where the silicone appears to be slightly greasy, wet looking but certainly not water to the touch.

i have never seen this with the clear silicone when using at work, but should i worry long term?
