Acrylic or Glass for tank in 10ft length and 36-40in tall?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
As I said before, fish tanks direct in Florida have 120" acrylic tanks in a variety if widths & heights available, and you can then custom how you want to finish off the buy

I got all three of my acrylic setups from fishtanksdirect in FL. Before each purchase I spent some time researching and fishtanksdirect had the best prices of all the places I looked at.

Just wondering if you guys have large plecos in your acrylic tanks. Some years ago on this site several members were reporting that their Royal plecos clouded the acrylic from the inside, which always made me lean towards glass. Any experience with that?

thanks

That’s overblown. Wood munching species like panaque (royals, blue eye, etc) will do that to acrylic but not the carnivorous or herbivorous species like hypostomus, psuedacanthicus, hypancistrus, peckoltia, and so on are fine. Lots of great options like luteus, L25, L24, LDA105, L273, L600, etc

I'm asking because my L114s take the paint off PVC pipes that I had triple-coated with Krylon Fusion spray paint...IMG_5433.jpeg

Acrylic is the way to go. It’s stronger, lighter and most importantly, clearer than glass. I have a 10.5’x 4’ x3’ 1100 gallon and a 8’x3’ x30” 450 gallon. I’m very happy with both my tanks.
