Another cool airbreather...and a relative of wolf fishes is Tarumania walkerae.

UPDATE: Apparently most knives can breathe air. I haven't heard about any type of Ghost Knifefish doing it but africans, featherbacks, and electric eels all breathe air.

Most South American knifefish cannot breathe air, but we think some species of Gymnotus might be able to.

Also don't forget swamp eels (Synbranchidae)...both Asian and South American species can breathe air. One species that was recently discovered actually burrows in soil. Check it out:

Wow. I want one. That said my list of fish I want that I don't have is fairly long. On it are great white sharks, alligator gar, giant freshwater stingray...

Lol great white sharks? That'll never happen. Any species of open water sharks will never last in aquaria. Have you watched the documentaries on YouTube about the aquariums that tried them? They're cool if you haven't, should check them out. My favorites the mako. Those don't even work in aquaria. They don't learn to stay away from the glass.

Camden has a whale shark, the greatest open water shark of all. They also have ahammerhead, I think a scalloped hammerhead, also a big open water shark. The New York Aquarium has bonnetheads, not big, but open water sharks.

You need to add coelacanth to that list, or you're not a real fishkeeper.

Long time ago, think it was the bubba aquarium, can't recall if it was before or after they were internationally protected (even public aquaria can't own them)


While we're on air breathing fish, how come no one mentioned tarpon?
