Damn no way! Toyin has this fish? I bet it's part of his private collection! Also it's wild caught? I'd love to make a trip to Africa for a few weeks on a bichir exploration. Scuba gear, a guide that knows where all the best and the rarest bichirs are, and an underwater camera to record it all. That would be the greatest thing that could ever happen to me!

way! he had the albino ornate almost 5 yrs ago, and that was around his big move across state to Texas. He told me later that it died during the move, along with this fella below, which i was ready to buy. But i think he wanted to wait till after the move since he was very busy, so that was unfortunate. As for the ornate, he was debating at the time if he should keep it for himself.

as for a trip to africa on a bichir exploration, man i'd LOVE to do that too, but i guess depending on where i go, i'd need a couple guards with machine guns as escort...no joke....

Yeah that's no lie! Africa is not a place to go messing around in without protection. Too many factions and rebels to be safe. Damn the thought of a trip like that would be really fun though.

Wow thanks for the schooling Inf! I'm down for an african polypterus collection trip too, so lets start coordinating!! :D

MFK Meet 2009: Africa :D

YAY! i'm in! lets go! :D

btw, that other bichir i posted above was supposedly a palmas polli. it was the only one i've ever seen, and i was hoping once i got it i could tell if it was for sure, but guess it wasn't meant to be :(

I'll hazard a guess that it was for sure poly. 5 spines, pointed mouth, big yellow fins.... that right there is the only platinum polli picture on the net!! :)

Sorry to hear you never got it... they'll be available eventually...

yeah thats what i was thinking too :) theres another pic taken from the front where the head doesn't look as pointed, so i remember at the time i was asking toyin if he was sure if it was polli or perhaps if it could be a senegalus. he said it didn't look like a senegalus, so that's why i decided to buy it.
