Algae scrubber as bio filter.

20180104_171450.jpg
50/50 nitrate dilute, nitrate actual. Ammonia at 15 minutes. It was yellow at 5 minutes.

Less than 30 ppm nitrate, after 11 days since water change. After the last water change nitrate was 20ppm.

So feedings 1 tsp per day , of 1mm micro pellets, for 11 days increased nitrate by 10ppm on a 65 gallon system.

Busy day, added a PVC daphnia, hatchery. Then set up the drip thru scrubber, with a new screen.
Removed the water fall scrubber on my moss tank, since the drip thru will take it' spot.

Did a water change on the algeacrubber tank. I added 5 more leds, and slightly modified how the water outflows, from the fluidised chamber.

Nitrates at 18ppm up 5 ppm since last water change. But have not fed as intended.

Busy ice fishing, filling the freezer.
I set my ORP meter up just to watch it on ph and millivolts.
Oh started at 8.5. And is going down daily by .5 ph each day. Some were the algea should start to buffer it out some. Last check was 7.10 ph. Low ph is safer with ammonia spikes.

I am just watching the seachem ammonia alerts. As they worked well last week. Save me 5 minutes a day of testing.

The light orange tube, was a fail, at shaking regent #2 long enouph.

Water change Friday, before stump 20ppm and 18ppm moss reef.
Increase of less than 5ppm, during the last week. On my 75 gallon stacked Cichlid tanks.

Interestingly the 18ppm sample, has been very stable, with just a 55 gallon w/c, on the 160 gallon system. 15157997200941012005264.jpg 1515799931123964692268.jpgYes, It could be called a walk in sump. Basement under tanks.
