All Hybrids that I can find on MFK

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a 55g in my living room that had one salvini in it and a whole mess of other fish. Long story short. I emptied the tank to half full because I had taken all the fish out. Easily a month or so later my kids go screaming to mom. Mommy mommy daddy is draining the baby fish tank.

So I went and wouldn't ya know it there were specs in the tank that were fry here is the link to the thread on AC.

I have in my 80g here 3 of the fish and 2 of them paired off will take a couple of pics and post them up later tonight or tomorrow.

In my 240 I have a female that is chasing everyone around the tank in the hope that they will pair off with her. I will also post up pics of her and if she happens to cross with the red devil in the tank post up pics of the fry.

here are a couple of pics of the fish that I was talking about earlier.

If they are pure salvini I would be shocked because there was only one salvini in the tank but a bunch of others mostly african .

Those are, with out any doubt what so ever, SALVINIS. One of these so called "mostly African" must have been another salvini! I looked at your link, and i see salvini fry as well as juvie salvini.....there is no mistaking them, even at a very young age. Bred the fish well over 75 times over the last 10+ years so I am more then familiar with them.

This is what i told you in a previous threadhttp://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...2227-A-strange-tale-of-hybrid-fish&highlight=
But your still convinced that they are some kind of hybrid:grinno:

Well what makes me think they are not pure salvini is that so far as I can remember there were not 2 salvini in the origional tank.

Another thing is the way that the black is not as predominant as it is on other pics of salvinis I looked up, the ones you sent me in pm as well

Another thing that I can not pick up since my camera skills suck so bad is the blue that is mixed in with the red on the belly .

If they are pure salvini then I stand corrected, but, I would have expected much more black on the fish and a portion of black on the dorsal. There is also a breeding pair in this tank so I am going to seperate them out and see what their fry come out to look like. If the black disappears even more I will hold to my thoughts that they are a cross of some kind

WOW! That's Gorgeous! Is it the same fish in both pics?
