Nice ray, Matt. Which tank is it in? I can't get a bearing on how big it is.

I was wondering if you could tell me how fast an arapaima can grow? Ours is probably about five and a half feet and our records claim that it is only four years old. We had a hard time thinking that was possible.

The tiger is about 28"-30"...it's the largest one I've seen in person.

Arapaima grow very fast. A "slow" growth rate would put yours about 4- 5 years old. SO it sounds like your records are right on. Mine is 6' right now and is about 3 or so. But we have him on the fast track for growing. I'm sure John will confirm that about "Sam" as well. These things grow like weeds.

A TSN snagged a midas and proudly swam around with it half hanging out of his mouth the other day.
Sounds like the fish will help you keep those fry in check.
