Well they're not a piscivorus fish while that jag is. You'd have a lot more luck prepping for spawning by feeding insects (earthworms, crickets, mealworms) or crawdads (my favorite). More protein and less disease possibilities too!
I feel the same way you do about feeder fish, that's why I go years between using them. But I don't worry too much about using them once in a great while. Back when I was a teen in the early 1980s, I had a Panther Grouper that I fed goldfish to very often. Man, that fish could put them away! And he was healthy as a horse. I also had a pair of Motaguense back then that would get the leftover goldfish, they eagerly chomped them up.
I do use earthworms much more often, I just bought some last night when I got the feeder goldfish. I haven't tried crayfish with the sagittaes yet, sounds like something I might get this weekend if I get a chance. Do you catch yours or buy them?

Very nice bro and awesome group!!
Northern Pike?? Hmm ill look into the restrictions but i can catch you all the pike you want
most likely ranging from 8-20"
Thanks, they are a lot of fun. I don't know if I'll ever have a large enough aquarium to properly house Northern Pike, but they look very cool.
Before I went to bed, I noticed a group of goldfish all in one spot. I grabbed my big net and caught about 3 or 4 of them with one swipe. I took them upstairs and fed them to my Caquetaia spectabilis, he ate them rather quickly. When I got home from work today, I noticed one goldfish still swimming with the sagittaes, they were ignoring him. I fed them some Hikari Bio-Gold pellets, dropped them in right over the goldfish. They went into their usual feeding frenzie, the goldfish was right in the middle of it. The managuense even nosed him out of the way to get to the pellets!
