I live on an island called Geoje Island (2nd biggest island in Korea). It is located in the most South Eastern part of Korea, just South of Busan (the 2nd biggest city in Korea).

hey man that is sooooooo great work u ' ve done

cool unusual design too ..

i was always wondering how can i do sth like that here in my country

i have few questions :

1. what is the raw of the wood u used

2. what is the material u used to paint the tank from inside to be isolated from water

3. how did u fixed the glass to the wood ( by normal silicon ? ) and is it glass or what ?!

i hope my Qs is not bothering .. but i always really wanted to make sth huge like that !!

coool man go on .. \M/-

Here's some answers ... (sorry they are not great answers, but all the info you need can be found throughout this thread).

1. The wood was just normal wood, with no special coatings.

2. I used 3 coats of glass reinforce resin, then painted 3 coats of blue gel coat (sanding and thinner cleaning between each blue coat).

3. The glass (1/2" high strength glass) was fixed in place using Dow Corning 732 silicone.

Good luck with your build !!

thanks man ..

the wood and the silicon is easy to get

now i have to search for the glass reinforce resin and the blue gel coat

thanks again

am from Egypt and this kinds of tanks is not popular here

we make our tanks with normal glass and silicon and recently we do have the imported aquariums ( ready ones with all tools installed )

i think i ll have to take a tour on the isolation materials here and see what i ll get .. !

Thanks man

but i was wondering about the pressure of water on the glass which is only 1 piece and with normal silicon ... is it safe for the 1 piece alone to take all the side pressure of water ?

I think a lot of people seal their tanks with marine grade epoxy resin and fiberglass. Those are used mostly in the construction of boats so look at stores that sell those kind of things. I know a lot of people have used West System Epoxy so that could be a brand to look for. By the way Bass your tank looks amazing. Did you use epoxy resin or polyester and then Gel coat?
