Awesome, simply awesome. I was trying to be quiet until the bass was in there, but sweet thread, and good luck with the tank and the job predicaments.

Good news, bad news.

Good news first - I opened the 2 overflow valves to the sump and they drain perfectly through the drip tray and SCRUBBIES.

Bad news - I switched on my brand new Mag1200 pump to try the return. It ran for a few seconds and then shut down (with about 6 foot of 3/4" hose). I took the hose off to see if it would run, but nothing. I took it apart and found several problems. A broken shaft and damaged magnets. Photos below.

Look at the screw heads and see if there are previous "marks" from loosening it. You know what side they'd be on...

If they are there then the pump has been wet before.

Looks as if it sucked some gravel and got into the impeller housing jambing it then the torque flexed the shaft till it snapped the ceramic shaft...

Look in the motor housing and see what is imbedded in the case that houses the "field" part of the motor...
gravel sand, or whatever...

I think the pump might have been returned...It wouldn't do that with clean water...

More good news - I cleaned all the damaged pieces of magnet off the main magnet and put the pump back together and switched it on with no hose attached and it worked. I'm not sure how long it will run like this.

I recirculated the system for about 10 minutes and all seems to be working well. The level in the tank stays the same. However, the level was down to start with so I topped up the tank with a hose and it went right back down to where it was.....confused

Another thing, the return comes back into the tank through my spray bar....this thing sounds like a huge waterfall, I couldn't hear my wife talking (not always a bad thing I know :D
