Any Mangrove Jacks out there?

how large do they get, they are brackish correct, or can they live their lives out in fresh water comfortably?

I have been told that they have not been seen over 24" in an aquarium. I was able to have mine thrive in freshwater, but have heard others that didn't make the transition well.

Mangrove Jacks are a brackish fish, but are very able to live in fresh water. They migrate and breed in the rivers that feed into the sea and when they grow to adult size they are reportedly caught at very large size some distance from the shoreline. I got my jack about 8 months ago at around 7cm and now he is around 20-25cm. He almost has a racetrack that he has, continually guarding his territory. I have always had him by himself in a tank except for around 30 seconds when i thought a barramundi about twice his size might be able to be his tankmate. Not to be. A fish bursting with personality and is a fair showoff to be honest.

Just a quick relpy to ML did your Jack always look like that?? just asking because the only time my jack has ever looked like that is when he is stressed out. Maybe after a large water change or something similar

This is awsome... I'm defernetly keeping my jack. Because mines so young an with a lot of other fish I haven't seen him take a feeder. Can anyone tell me if they use their teeth or just swallow it whole?

bad pic, but check out the TEETH!!!
