Anyone ever check out these fiberglass tanks with viewing windows???

Well that says alot about the size of your other tanks!! I see the back of one mammoth set-up in that pic and it makes the 405 look like a dwarf!! Wow. One last question before I order this thing...and I'm sorry to be a bother....Will it fit through a standard 36" door? I noticed that the dimensions on the site only gave interior and not exterior.

We build these at work, Not very hard to build but you cant really do it in your back yard, your next doors will kill you!!! fiberglass stinks for days.

as for filtration you can drill the fiberglass and use a sump.

Not sure for you guys but down here its the same price to go glass v fiberglass else you go over 4ft then fiberglass is cheaper/worth it.

Hi Squirtle, thanks for the reply. I've read your fish-room thread and was amazed by it! Around here glass is mid-range price wise, but relatively high. Acrylic can be astronomical!! The FG tanks are really a good value and could be skinned with a wooden facade. I'm glad to know they can be drilled, and a sump is def. the direction I was hoping to go. I was thinking about 90-100 gal sump w/ 1.5- 2" bulkheads overflows in the back and same size returns at bottom of the tank. I have a reeflo snapper laying around @ 2500 gph, but I think I should go bigger.

Good question! 41 1/4" x 77 3/4" measuring the top, which I'm assuming is the same as the side ribs (or whatever they are called). I believe I read on the website to add 5" to the internal dimensions. We literally moved the sump tank and the main tank in and framed the walls in. We would have to knock down interior and exterior walls to move either tank in or out.

Since you noticed our main tank, here's the front of it before it was framed in the wall. With the sump, we should have at least 2000 gallons, so it's not THAT big (15' x 4' x 4'). It should work to adequately house our pacu.

Back on track, I really don't think anyone would be sorry with an Aquatico tank (if the tank can fit through the door.) Do you have sliding patio doors? Doorway limitations is probably a big reason many large tanks are in garages.

100G sump sounds good. Yes they can be drilled!! I would ask the builder to drill it. We used silicone on our bulkheads for fiberglass tanks. not sure if this is due to gaskets not having the best hold on fiberglass or something else. I am not really deep in the loop with fiberglass tanks. maybe my boss just didn't want 1500G of saltwater all over the floor :D

as for the door may be a tight fit, pacu mum is right most houses with big tanks inside have that room built for the tank or with the tank in mind etc very few houses actually have large doors. again 3-5 inches sounds about right for thickness. maybe a bit less. worst comes to worst get the good old sledge hammer out and just knock the door frame and some bricks out :D no dont do that... you could remove the wood frame around the door if you need an extra bit of space its not too hard. otherwise do you have a large window?

If you know a good carpenter or are good with wood yourself then you could probably frame one in without too much difficulty and make it look extremely nice as well(that's very important since all my tanks are always in living spaces. Something like that would make for a great in-wall build.

That was my first thought too.

I didn't think to measure the height of the tank....it's 36", so if the tank is turned on its side, it could slip through a doorway that was slightly larger than 36" .....don't pinch your fingers though!!! Hopefully, it'll work for you!

Our 405 gallon tank was delivered before the walls went up. The big tank and stand were slipped through an opening before the outside walls went up.
