Ok I grabbed 2 o-rings at napa (1.30 each)... Is it suppose to create a seal between the skimmer body and the collection cup or just hold the collection cup and various heights?

Here are pics after the tube was cut down and I put the o-ring on. Everything look proper? Also in the pics I posted before, the white foam is good yes? means it working?

It is just to hold the cup up at different heights. The higher up you hold the cup the dryer the skimmate.

Yes, the white foam is good. It will get darker when the skimmer is really producing, but needs to break in first.

The pic looks about right. The O-ring is bigger normally than the one you bought, so it would hang over the edge but this is doing the job it looks like.

Well i bought 2. that one is the thinner of the two...

Should i leave it all the way down for now or higher?

is it better to skim wet or dry?

Uhoh, don't open that can of worms. lol

Ha, no it is personal preference for the most part. Skimming dry means you don't remove as much water that would then need to be topped off and the skimmer emptied frequently. Skimming wet will mean that you are removing all the bad stuff, but you will also need to have a big collection cup(something for it to run into too) and top off water. Most people tend to skim pretty dry. I do this, but mine is slightly wet on my EV-400. On my Remora it is a bit more wet, less paste and more dark liquid. I would say that with the Remora you should skim pretty dry because there isn't a whole lot of space in the collection cup.

I would start with it higher and slowly move it lower. Otherwise you might end up with a flood if your skimmer suddenly starts producing lots of skimmate and you don't notice it.

Awesome thanks!

Man, if I had run my remora all the way down that bugger would have overflowed within the day...
