just curious to see which silicone most people prefer - black or clear.

it seems that over the last few years, black is gaining more and more popularity, with Marineland offering many standard tanks in black silicone and Aqueon offering their bowfronts in black. Oceanic has many of their tanks with black as well...

but..do people like it?

personally, I much prefer black, as it doesn't stain with meds and show algae growth..but I might be in the minority on this..

so, which do you prefer? or do you care? :)

black no question. once you go black you never go back

I think the black is reminiscent of when tanks were framed in metal, drawing attention to the seams a little more than I'd like. Just my opinion tho.

I was'nt even aware of black silicone untill you brought it up but I think I'll stick with clear...especially if it is cheaper.:D

black all day everyday, for the reasons you mentioned. it just give the tank a sleek look. clear sucks, i hate the way it looks. makes the tank look cheesy

Black for me. I think it draws less attention because it doesn't show all the dirt and algae, especially if you have a black background.

yes, a black background goes really really well with black silicone..

I used that on my 150: not sure that clear would not have "stuck out" like a sore thumb..
