i HAVE KEEPED ARAPAIMA'S FORE OVER 20 YEARS.I BUILT A 1500 GAL.TANK THAT I THOUGH THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO JUMP OUT OF! BOY I WAS WRONG! I LOST MY BIGGIST ONE.HE WAS OVER 5 FT.LONG&50LBS.HE JUMP THROUGH WOOD ,MESH WIRE,AND 1/4"PLEXIGLASS AND LANDED ON 11/2"SCD.40 PLASTIC PIPE THAT BROKE AND PUMP ALL THE WATER OUT.I AM GETTING A BID FORE A TANK THAT IS 15,OOO GAL.I AM GOING TO BUILD A HOUSE AROUND IT.I HAVE BOUGHT THE LAND IN FLORIDA AND I WILL MOVE FROM O.C.CALIF.

any bony-tongue fish including arowana (all except the silver) is illegal to own in FL regardless of qualifications. The only way you could get one is if you build a zoo, and they are STILL difficult to get for zoo's.

I have raised silver, black, and now jardini on floating sticks. They seem to go after the red ones which have a picture of an arowana on the package. Once on them, they seem to prefer them. I usually have this as only food source once on, i find it has all the nutrients they need and colors are great in the fish. This also helps eliminate the diseases of feeding live food.
