This year we stoked a 92cm male ex broodstock fish into one of the impoundments it is the oldest reliably aged fish known 26/27 years old
I would have loved to get the otoliths out of that skull.
When the guy sent the pics he thought it was a cod.
I could not beleive it when I saw first saw it.
When cut and veiwed the otolith has rings like a tree you can age the fish by the number of growth increments (rings). One of the most accurate ways to age fish.
