I'd expect the drip system to actually be better for it if you are still changing the exact same amount of water a month. I'd think doing a large water change all at once would be harder on it than the slow drip
Also I don't remember if this is the exact right size but I use one of these after the inline sink filter to control the amount of water going into the tank.

I have been running a simple drip for 4 years. Water goes through whole house filters to remove chlorine and a ball valve and that's it. A needle valve would be nice though to fine tune the waterflow after the ball valve.
