Auto tank filter ??
Never heard of it.
Does it come with an auto feeder, auto fish chooser, auto gravel/sand vac., auto water changer ?
"Auto" mation can be helpful at best, but then why have an aquarium ?
Automation makes cars. Where is the self satisfaction of actually KEEPING animals alive by you're own efforts and desires.
Automation can keep people alive, and fish too I guess, but I don't see much point to make an aquarium that automated.
A coffee table, or picture, just "automatically" sits/hangs there waiting to be looked at.
No input/interaction needed.

ok, i see what your getting at, I just want an aquarium that is the most efficient available. i like the idea oh filters that auto clean. to help keep the nitrates down which is very hard with very over stocked tanks!! and i already have auto feeders and auto water changers are easier than auto filter cleaner to make. the cool thing about that filter in doesn't waste water to clean the filter..

love the input

check out the self cleaning bead filters

.
Dont you already have a 'self clean bio filtration' from such a high flow rate for the Pima tank? Pretty much cleans the bio balls continuously.

u do however, make a point.
i guess if ur really that LAZY and RICH then u can venture on this "automatic cleaning filter" but as for me, id be gravel vaccuming and manually cleaning my canisters and sumps for moooooore years to come ^_^

Inferring "Lazy" and/or "Rich" was not the point. Only that interacting with the tank and fish is part of the enjoyment for me.
Some automation is good (filters automatically clean the water after all), but too much would, I think, make an aquarium sort of an afterthought.
Just me.

Just get the FishMate - UVC Pressure Filter Line. They have a self cleaning line as well with is kind of cool. But u have to still install water liner to pressure the hole thing down to ring it out... but it does work ive played around with the 15000 :)

Just get a wet/dry with trays and some metal or plastic micron screening like the SeaVision filter uses. Then you can just remove the screen and hose it off. It's basically the same thing as the automatic filter but a lot cheaper.

Aquaticeco and other places sell screening that can be used for mechanical filtration.

I enjoy doin all my tank/fish maintenance. Thats also why I dont like those automatic feeders, I like feeding my fish and its a good time to look them over and make sure theyre healthy. Back when I didnt want the "hassle" of tank maintenance and such I got a annual pass for Sea World. They took care of the fish for me. All I had to do was show up and look. :)
