Its easy for you, but I believe other substrates where the snake can burrow has a big impact on stress reduction. If you think about it, newspaper isnt really that much easier than just getting a paper towel to get the poop out... Plus newspaper just looks plain UGLY in my opinion.
However, I think paper towels are great for fresh hatchlings, or sick animals with problems associated with poo, because you would want to see it free of debris.
A healthy, hydrated snake can easily pass a small peice of aspen or something. The question is whether or not your snake IS healthy and hydrated. Just think about what they can pass in the wild.
