Just an inquisitive question, what are some of your guys' favourite monster fish?

Looking for cool fish that I might keep in the future ?

Depends on what kind of character you mean. Like personable? Or maybe displays certain behaviors? Or maybe even just being quirky and odd? Lol

My old flowerhorn was the most entertaining fish ive ever had. But it seems that almost any cichlid has the potential to have a lot of character, though some may not be as personable as others.

Tbh which fish you guys would never get bored of to see, interact with and feed.

I guess character is a opinion-based sentiment. In the end, it's just the fish you love the most and would die for.

Gotcha. Like i said flowerhorn or other central american cichlids. Clown loaches are also lots of fun. These arent true "monster" fish though. Ive heard mbu puffers are very fun wet pets though. Hope to have a mbu tank one day.

Mine was my koi before I lost them all last year.
They weren’t the same kinda personable that cichlids are. I think that’s more so aggression on the cichlids part, but makes them cute. Haha.
But my koi were endlessly fun to feed. I could pet them and they would rush up to nibble fingers and toes. I miss them dearly. They made gardening fun too. I’d collect slugs and worms then take breaks to go feed the fish. It was so much fun.

Sounds like my Rosy Barb's ? always nibble my fingers. And my terrapins always eat worms found in the garden.

My favourite is probably my terrapins (not fish but certainly monsters). Super cute, quirky and fun to feed. I only have 3 tanks, 55 gallon with Rosy Barb's and giant danio, 10 gallon with shrimp and 20 gallon with 2 slider terrapins. To my dad, it sounds like madness but to you guys it must be nothing:ROFL:.

I used to have a 20 gallon with many poor pets who died off quicky because I was negligent with water changes and had no clue how aquariums worked. I was young and the lfs people told me nada.

In the future, I'm planning to have a channa barca breeding project and have many other cool fish. Also have found that this forum is the best for anything to do with fish and the guys here are great?.

When threads like this come up one fish that is always a popular answer is the Oscar. It seems to be the quintessential go to fish if you want a proper wet pet with loads of personality and attitude. It's donkeys years since I kept an oscar but as I remember it certainly lived up to it's reputation as a playful interactive fish.

Fast forward to the present day and i'd say my RTGG is the most personable big fish I have. It's tankmates are balas, cigars, tinfoils and chalceus and they are as dull as dishwater in comparison. That's in my 360g but I must say that my 180g is hard to beat at the minute for pure entertainment value. There's a load of clown loach in there which are always fascinating to watch. But it's my rainbowfish that are stealing the show at the minute. I've added boosemani, turquoise, dwarf neons and reds and their behaviour is incredible to watch. And as an added bonus they are truly beautiful too, especially the males when they are strutting their stuff in front of the females.

So i'd say you don't necessarily need to go big if you want fun fish.
