I noticed my 4" NGK laying down on the gravel on his side still in his cave sometimes, not moving. He still comes out every once in a while as usual. Is this normal or do I have a problem? Has anyone seen this behaviour with BGK ?
BGKs need pristine water conditions and high water movement/flow. You should have 8x+ turnover rate which means really high filtration, if you are confident and are providing this, then it is probably something else amiss.
I have an over 10x turnover rate of filtration so a very strong water flow too and i did a 50% wc when i noticed this, but he still lays on the side sometimes. So from ur answer I should take it that there is smth wrong and that BGK should not b laying down on his side? Have u seen such a behavior with a BGK and was he alive and well ?
i think its normal behavior, mine also lays on his side or upside down in his pipe. The BGK dont seem to register gravity as they lack the otoliths to do so.
ouuuf thnx guys for confirming that I was freaking out I really love this guy and I don't want him to die. I never had luck with them before so I'm kinda paranoid with this one
its normal behavior mine lays on his side some times to and up side down or on the other side or any other weired position he also uses reverse alot swims backwards more than forwards they are weired thats why we love them
