Just saw this thread. As much as bichirs aren't my cup of tea either (they're the too-hot cup of tea that burnt my mouth, lol), I just couldn't help but say that those are some lovely pictus catfish (which, funny enough, are a very big part of the reason I do not like bichirs).

Why? Our pictus have lived with the two smaller bichirs just fine for the past year or three.
Some (such as yoursef) have had success with that pairing, but I would not want to trust any bichir, even if I liked them, around pictus catfish after hearing of Gourami Swami mention they had a 20 cm bichir attempt to eat a 13-15 cm pictus and both parties dying. Such a low size ratio.
