Perhaps. I recall learning about their homing tendencies but never any concrete explanation given. I dont know how any animal could remember an arbitrary patch of beach or pond without some sort of inborn equivalent of a GPS though.
Well the frogs in my pond always come and go so I think they must be able to track a nearby water source

I find that American bullfrogs can and do switch to different ponds, likely during rains, I also found leopard frogs tend to hang around small fishless ponds in the warm months,but leave to hibernate near bigger ponds in fall
