Black sand or white sand with black or blue back ground

I tried black sand with a small tank once and found it just too dark.

I recently set up a 90 gallon with a dark blue background and white sand and found the white too bright and showed debris too much. After a few days I switched to light tan pool filter sand and I love it with my current tank lighting. Sand is tan/white but not glaringly white.

Looks great. Love that sand. What is the grain size? Do you know or is it just standard?

Grain size - the bag says 20-40.

I have a black background with blue sides and white sand. I find fish get more colour changes from the background than the sand, so I just got normal sand because it looks nicer IMO
