Blue eyed Pleco price???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If 300-1200 dollars is a dime a dozen you must live in a completely different world than I do!!!
I think what Jason meant was there fairly common now, not that there cheap, there really easy to obtain in the UK as well now Pier Aquatics has them all year round almost, from £200 for a fair sized one 7"- 8" all the way up to £400 for a monster 16" - 18", my prices are in pounds not dollers

Pounds, dollars......dime a dozen brings feeder fish to mind.....Not many freshwater command such a premium. Cant think of more than a handful that sell for between 200 and 400 dollars or pounds. Large panaque can be found here in the US online right now for 1200. dollars. ST dats and Platinum arrowana range!!

Yes, price wise around here they are still expensive, just like 25, 24 and so on, all are readily available now but still command a high price tag but anyone wanting to drop some money can have one but don't expect often or at all at most stores, mostly online.

Zebra plecos are kind of like blue eye plecos in a way. They are a bit common now but still require a high price tag. Maybe in my life time I'll see the time when true zebra plecos are $50 a piece.

From what I've seen, 90% of Blue Eyed out there are Cochliodon (the smooth one), which can be found fairly often but still commands high price. Here, we can see at least 6 of them every 2 months and sometimes dozen from importers.
However, it's another story for Suttonorum. Haven't seen one for 2 years now. The only way to get one is from fellow aquarist who need to let theirs go and they're usually in monster 14"+ size, which commands HUGE price tag.
Both BEC and BES are kinda lookalike though.

That was another pleco that used to be cheap(er). I got one for $35. I also got two others(both under $50)

I think for that size $300 is about right. I bought a beautiful 12" one earlier this year before they really started popping up. I overpaid at $500 but am fine with it.
Saw some as low as $200.

They're great fish. If you've got the room for it, do it.

I'd still like to find a Suttoni...

I just dropped $200 for a 6 inch L 24 and would of paid double that for it its areal cool pleco and one I always wanted and now own

I noticed most fish creeping up in price, I recall buying black neons for a 1.49 and saw a local store asking 5 bucks a piece now, ridiculous.
