 I'm never going to get some of those fry.

Maybe they will figure it out soon Peter. I know your getting frustrated with them, but sometimes it takes several tries.

Thanks JD...the only other option I haven't tried is to move them into another tank with some tankmates to keep the male busy, so that he wouldn't turn on the female. As soon as they spawn I'll move the male and all other fish....the problem is that my 55g is occupied by the orangeheads and fry at the moment....well we'll see what happens in a couple of weeks...

Pm me for questions on raising the fry, we succefully breed and raise these on a weekly basis now.

Thanks John! Looking forward to some stunning F1s. It's not hard to get them to spawn or to raise the fry (mine took baby brine shrimp), but it's the few days in between that I seem to be having problem with :(.

I'm actually thinking about going a different direction and need to thin down the 220.....hope I can find anybody that wants to take over the project... :)

Hey Peathenster! I saw your AD on the classified thread on these beautiful Red Line... good luck luck with that.. wish I had another tank I would have scooped these up...

Thanks buddy...sad to let them go but need the tank for my new CAs...

They are showing spawning behavors again - displaying and cleaning rocks. I guess they don't want to go either :)

How can we see the difference between H. severum and H. sp. Atabapo ?

I'm not sure if there's such a thing as "H. severum". "Severum" is a common name referring to Heros species, including H. severus, H. rotkiel, H. efasciatus, H. notatus, etc... H. severus "Atabapo" is a one of them.

Not having much look with the severus Peathenster?

My F1s started to play call the other day. All the other sevs soon put a stop to that ;-)

As for the Species. Officially its H.Efasciatus, H.Severus, H.Notatus and H.Spurius (one day ;-) ) with all the sub species (orinco, temi, atabapo - severus, Rotkeil, tapajos, belem, manause, curare - Efasciatus) being bundled into the above 4.

Its on the verge of going two ways at the minute, with H.Spurius and H.Notatus being lumped in with Efasciatus.

OR

Theres talk that all the sub species are going to be re-classified as seperate species, based on more then the Hemel spines and brood care (the current system)

Should be interesting to see what the boffins come up with.

Best of luck with the fry by the way. Im nursing 400+ tapajos fry as i type, petrified when it comes to feeding. Not the nicest feeling is it lol
