Late nights in the shop so far this week are detracting from my tpynig skliz
I forget the exact dims on your glass but out of curiosity I ran some numbers on the weight... 36"x113"x0.75"x2500kg/m^3 = 275lbs of glass. . Be very careful not to scratch it or you'll stare at the damn scratch every time you get close to the tank!! (experience speaking )
What brand silicone are you going to use to seal the glass to the tank? If you get the big commercial tubes of silicone you can buy a cove-base applicator that screws on the tube or fits in your gun that lays a 2"-3" wide bead rather than running a bunch of smaller ones in order to get the width you want. Remember to tape the glass and outside of the window to make nice clean lines, I'm only saying that because I forgot to do that when I put mine in and almost made a big mess. looking good though cant wait to see water in the beast.
Used 9 tubes of GE Silicon I and lifted that bad boy up, clamped the tops and braced the sides and bottom.
How long until I can remove the braces? 1/2 day? 1-2 days?
And the guys who delivered the glass were kind enough to not only bring it down stairs for me but with out hesitation they agreed to put it inside the tank for me so all I would have to do is caulk and lift.
They got a nice big tip for that one.. GlassHopper in Aurora IL in case anyone local needs an awesome glass shop.
Ok the fumes are getting to me so I need to go open a window before my cats start passing out.. lol
