I also jumped on board this site after seeing this fish tank. Before seeing this monster tank I was under the impression that a 800 or 1000 gallon was going to be my dream tank but now after hearing about cement and cinder block tanks I'm now raising that dream to 5000 gallons.

What type of steel beams and windows did you use on your tank where the steel beams custom built for the fish tank or did they come from a suppy company?

Welcome to MFK and am am glad that we have aroused the desire in you to build a large(r) tank.

I used 3 1/2 inch tubular steel but would suggest stainless if possible. My friend and my brother mounted them onto the floor of the concrete and then encased them in a 4 concrete foot wall. My friend prepared them in his work shop cutting them to the desired length and painting them with a rust proof paint.

Have you seen The Tank that Jack built in Practical Fishkeeping? I am sure I would have gone that route if I was building a 5,000 gallon size tank.

Did building the cement walls of this tank take on the same nature as building 3/4 of a swimming pool with a glass wall? Also what type of glass or arylic did you use on building the glass walls of the tank? Was it a speical ordered type or the stuff used in reglar windows but only really thick? Also would inlarging something like this be hard or easy to do?

That's really awesome! Do you know if he's got a website to check out the specs on the pump?
I couldn't download the pdf file so I emailed it to you.

Here are some of the people who came to my house and checked out the pump.

Barb Ireland President of the Brant Aquarium Society www.brantaquariumsociety.ca and Jerry Draper owner of The Tropical Fish Room in Brantford, Ontario, Canada www.thetropicalfishroom.ca

You have met Jerry at the OCA each year.
