i personally hate getting cheap tools... when i was a snapon dealer i saw what cheap tools did and how it made life hell.
That being said there were a few cheap tools that were quite impressive, and could hold their own against the big boys. Personally, i love gear wrench for hand tools, screwdrivers i still prefer snap-on (if you can afford it, get the blue point bit set. They use the same snapon design with out the lifetime guarantee for a fraction of the price.), power screwdriver i would go with bosh, electric drills you can go with Milwaukee or Makita, both cordless 24v battery charge faster than what you can run them dry.
With that said i would still buy a corded drill because you will hate life if your battery died, and you find out that the other battery is ruined.
Ryobi makes really nice in expensive saws, what not.
